Paul,
I actually referred to a FACT: both, INTC & AMD don't have experience in the high-end server RISC-CPU segment - simply because it's not their home turf. So this means INTC has no special "advantage" here. It's a level playing field. With CPQ on its side and by SHARING (not "copying" as You imply) their bus design, AMD might have a tactical edge. That's my feeling. Not more, not less.

I suppose the Real technical Excellence goes to AMD for copying the Alpha EV6 bus.

Is copying the right word? It appears that there is something more significant going on between AMD and Compaq.
