Who knows for sure. Being politically oriented, I think that how the market reacts will depend quite a bit on how the elections go today. It is pretty much a foregone conclusion that the GOP will hold on to both houses of Congress, but if they make major gains it could add confusion to the future. On the positive side, a large GOP gain, with a filibuster proof Senate, would go a long way to reducing taxes and setting up 2000 for some major tax relief( since Clinton will veto any tax relief.) On the other hand, a large GOP gain will signal continued impeachment, a definate unknown and probably a drag.

So we will see tonight.
