Morning LG,..Re: Now lets get it right, congress spends the money. And, congress was in the hands of the Democrats during the Reagan years

Here, here!!! Well said and accurate. Now if we could just moderate or neutralize the righteous right of the party, we'd have it all locked. <VBG>

Also a Republican,

Lee

lg--

the demo congresses of the 80s were playing chicken little, especially on defense. as for the social programs...i would rather pay for school lunches and make sure social security is fully funded than build ANOTHER nuke. we should have just built 100 of the damn things and left it at that.

i hate all the social spending rhetoric made vogue by that fathead rush limbaugh. he doesnt tell it like it is. all welfare spending is less than 5% of the national budget. the three big ones are medicare/medicaid, social security, and the DoD. thats it. you wanna make significant cuts, start there.

oh, there is blame enough to go around. clinton has been restrained by what has by and large been a good legislative branch since 94...with the notable exception of the idiotic war on drugs (vietnam anyone) and their attacks on the rights of citizens (barr, for one, uses the bill of rights for toilet paper).

personally, i would rather buy one less B2 and fully fund social security. sure, building planes gives a specialized few a job, but it also ties up a large resource...capital. and those workers can be recommited to other tasks.

good luck to all,
trey
