STRX: 14 11/16: approaches Nov. 6 for record earnings estimates and is down a pt. off the open. I bought @ under 14, and wondering if this will be a scratch for me. Any thoughts?

Jenna,

TAVA:

I confirmed the earnings date as tomorrow with a phone call. My last Q earnings play with TAVA worked very well selling the end of day before earnings were released. Now however, it is slipping on above average volume....

XEIKY is doing nicely! When are the earnings out? Thursday before or after the close? Are you expecting another earnings surprise this quarter? I read that each&every Belgium investor owns this stock.
The guy who lives next door reports that XEIKY are doing great FWIW!
Michael

Learning from past trading errors and changing your strategies acccordingly.

I was asked 2 questions today via e-mail that I wanted to share with you. One was Why did you Choose HTCH today of all days for your watch list?.. It could not have been an earnings play with such low earnings..

My answer: yes that is exactly why I chose it and and it performed just as I hoped it would.. Creeping up steadily from a low of 19 3/4 to close a 21 7/8, 1/8 short of the high of the day.. I suspected the 'low estimate' that the analysts set for HTCH would be 'beat'.. I've made the mistake in the past of never including earnings plays with lowered estimates. Lately I've been including them since the "market" likes you to beat.. Even if your EPS goes from $.65 cents to -(.65) cents you will 'beat the street' if you only lose -.50 cents. So you are now a street beater.. as HTCH is. It 'beat' estimates of down 72 by being down only about 68.

2nd question: How come you did not sell QCOM when it was down 11/16 and 2 points lower than the high of the day..

answer: I made that mistake with NEON.. Not sticking to my guns and just isolating the company itself and my own analysis and not get sidetracked by general market sentiment that particular day. QCOM is a a street beater and I decided to keep it.. It beat by 4 and I was glad more on principle than anything else.

2 trading mistakes I've made in the past, and I'm learning from them...
