From Briefing.Com earlier today...

QUALCOMM (QCOM) 58 1/2 +3/16: Stock reversing early morning losses amid anticipation of a decent earnings report... QCOM due to release Q4 earnings after the close... Street looking for gain of $0.50 v. year ago profit of $0.41... Recent history suggests that company will handily beat this number resulting in a pop in the stock price... In each of last 5 quarters QCOM has exceeded consensus forecast by an average of 16%... If company can live up to average, we're looking at a gain of $0.58... But given bullish mood on street anything above $0.54 should be good enough to keep stock headed north... Since bottoming on October 8th, stock up 55%... Better than expected earnings report should propel stock to resistance at 65 57/64 (July high)... Longer-term target 75 based on improving technical foundation and discounted valuations... QCOM trades at 23.1x estimated FY99 earnings of $2.53, with a PEG of 0.67. As long as company lives up to earnings promise, we expect stock to experience material multiple expansion.

Thanks Taichi.
Some real quick observations on some impressive operating results.

First is gross margins on Comm System Revenues - 29% a significant increase - Exceeds expectations.

Second, an increase of operating income. $85 million in Q4 versus $53 million in Q3 or $32 million more operating income on $50 million more revenue. (Q4 versus Q3). Very impressive.

I was a little surprised that revenue didn't reach $1 billion,(it will be interesting to see the mix of comm system revenue), but delighted with operating income improvement and margins which sets up nice for FY99. Thanks
Web.

Consumer Products Division...

Can anyone divine the contribution of Consumer Products Division (the
'phone mob). They didn't rate a mention in the financial highlights.
The whisper is that they are only breaking even.
