nihi,

The speed limitations and lag in entering server and workstation market continues to make AMD popular with hobbyists, and but not with serious businesses.

My view is that it takes time for conservative business buyers to switch from a known to an unknown. It took time for business buyers to switch from IBM to Compaq, from Compaq to Dell, and now from Intel to AMD. All of these transitions occurred because of a better value proposition with the new company.

Intel is trapped by investor expectations. They can't compete with AMD pricing because INTC investors demand $1.5 billion profit, just to keep the stock price constant.

AMD can earn 2 cents a share and double their profitability. That gives them a lot of freedom to undersell Intel parts.
