I'm guessing that you might not be aware of the MT&T solution that is availabe today! These guys from Nova Scotia were part of a technology demonstration at ISPCon ...novell.com Mpowered is a complete solution offered by MT&T that is using their DSL high-speed connections to homes, complete with application rental capabilities built around ... yes ... NetWare, NDS, and Novell's Application Launcher. Users are able to "purchase" rights, through the directory, to applications, games, and other programs ... and Novell's Application Launcher performs the installation automatically. When the rental period ends, the application rights are revoked. It's really an amazing demonstration of the capabilites of NetWare and NDS in a true Internet play ...mtt.ca This is only the beginning of the way software of the future will be distributed. Instead of "buying" applications that you only use a couple of times, you rent the latest version for the time that you need it. Obviously this puts a dent in the Microsoft model of taxing us for yearly updates and upgrades. I have to give the credit to Phillip Kahn though ... not Microsoft. He got this model going with his Turbo- series of application development tools. With more applications becoming "browser-based" and with users wanting more flexibility, the world is going to change even more ... Scott C. Lemon
