You like PKD, eh? I don't recall reading Dick; I had the usual favorites, Heinlein, Asimov, Tolkien, LeGuin, Lewis and so forth. A real nutcase I liked was Lafferty.

Bradbury, Sturgeon, Vonnegut, Herbert....what engineering student did not devour this stuff. I thought about writing in college.

I was cured when I graduated; a good friend worked for Doubleday. When he found out I liked Sci-Fi and Fantasy he brought home 5 cases of books as a present, most by well known writers. The books were Remaindered. Lots of starving authors in the world.
