Nice look forward, Eric. You've summed up why I hold a little Cien. I could, for the most part, give a rip about a $3 drop today. The increasing backlog, continued evolution of advanced wdm products and the infrastructure buildout they support, are why I have my stock. Best to daytraders hoping to scrape a few points but I didn't enter Cien for that reason.

Regards.

Hi Eric,

Good posting. You say:

"A RBOC announcement would be a huge win but I believe CIEN management will not talk up any "potential orders" as they already got side swiped from AT&T and others."

I think that this point may be lost on some folks.

Also, while the RBOCs do have a case in some instances for early deployment for metro area DWDM, they don't yet have the grounds for deploying in the WAN, and they wont, until that market is opened to them by the regulators.

My speculation is, based on my knowledge of how the RBOCs are gearing up for LD voice with advance design and engineering taking place every day, on an ongoing basis, is that they probably have a number of deals on trigger, constantly being renewed and improved, for that moment in time. At that point they will submit their final orders. In the meantime, it's negotiations, laboratory and field trials, NDAs, honing of the SLAs, etc. Something to keep in mind.

FWIW, and Regards, Frank Coluccio
