WAY OFF SUBJECT:
I am confused. This is the Webmistress' explanation of why my brief and to the point post may have been removed:

"If you just posted "PM", it was most likely removed by one of our
administrators. One and two-word posts are oftentimes removed, as they clutter the thread."

I was trying to not load things down with a lot of words. Besides, how many words MUST one use to alert another to a PM?

When I thanked the Webmistress for her answer, I brought up my wonderment about the logic of removing a TOO BRIEF OF A MESSAGE "WHICH CLUTTERS", but not removing vulgarities.

As long as I am taking everyone's time, hello, may you have a good Thanksgiving and Christmas. Gary: remember my post where you were promoted to General? Make that a five star General. Your work was and is greatly appreciated and one result was to prevent a greater loss to MIDL by Dan Fisher's actions. From the beginning it was easy to detect that you are one who appreciates life's learning experiences and the resulting growth in wisdom and one who tries his best to help others.

My first impression of your personality and character has never changed...even though I try to be one of those for whom "God is my co-pilot". Actually, God is the Captain, I am the co-pilot.

STORY TIME
Well here I go, the run-on-writer who feels stupid after his posts.
Just wanted to share with you that for one fire season, I was going to fly co-pilot with my boss in a borate twin engine bomber (aerial fire fighting plane). The purpose, mainly to watch the wing tip on my side so that we would maintain a safe distance from forest trees.

However, Mac stayed with the N3N biplane instead. So, I missed my fun that summer. Mac was one of the original 35 or 37 "borate bombers" in the USA. I worked as his aircraft mechanic during his fire fighting years. I put one memory into words several years ago. May
I share it with you?

"As one ages, one likes to reminisce. I believe that it was December of 1959. The owner had headed south to Palm Springs with his travel trailer, wife and dog. I was left behind with the job of starting from scratch on a N3N Biplane. No instruments, lights, wiring or junction boxes. Wiring and installing instruments is not very physical. So, I kept warm with my alpaca jacket collar turned up, rubbed my hands together once in a while to warm them. It was so cold that I had to keep the electrical insulating tape warm in my shirt pocket in order to use it.

How well I remember that time in December. There was heavy fog for two weeks solid. I heard only one light aircraft pass over. The fog so thick that it seemed to want to come in the closed hanger.

I enjoyed my work though and now it gives me a special time to remember."

Mac flew this N3N Biplane for many years fighting forest fires and also sowing thousands of acres of grain and rice. The forest Service required us to upgrade the engine to the 600+ take-off horse power. We used a Navy overhauled Pratt & Whitney with hydromatic two pitch prop (cost only $1000 in 1959). Plane used around 25 gallons of gasoline an hour in heavy crop dusting, seed sowing work with lots of turns and with a take off load of 2400 to 2600 pounds.

Well, must close. Finally started harvesting olives. over two weeks late and around 10 days to go because of a small crew. Labor is short in California, crop is small because of El Nino rains at blossom.

Best and again happy thanksgiving & Christmas with your loved ones,

Marshall W.

December 18th, last trading day before our oldest daughter Julie arrives home for Christmas from Bangkok Thailand where she teaches in a large Christian school open to all. In fact most of the parents are Buddhists Jeff, and other asian beliefs. The school teaches all of the general subjects but is not restricted in interjecting topics related to God. The kids take the good news home and some parents also have come to God this way.

Julie loves the kids and they cannot help but love her. No deceit in that small school of perhaps 250 students. Interesting to see the elephants wandering lose in Bangkok when they are not being used for work such as construction.

Thanks for bearing with me and my holiday OFF TOPIC hello to each of you. I am getting sleepy...hope that this makes a wee bit of sense.

Hug a love,

Marshall W

I mentioned Dec. 18th being the last trading day before Julie arrives at the Sacramento California airport because how happy it would be if God allowed a break even escape and/or profit from MIDL on or by the 18th and therefore a great additional reason for a happy Christmas with our other four children also home from college and universities.
