Joe, that is exactly right---and the unpredictability occurs at price pauses on low volume--don't know which way its going to break--you've got pretty good ideas based on the underlying trend--but its no sure thing--however if you do get the direction right you are going to make really good money quickly and if you are wrong you are going to lose a lot of money really quickly. Buying into one of these patterns is almost pure gambling--that's why I wait for the break first (have a buy stop limit order waiting) and then immediately set a sell stop order just in case. Only try trading top 10 volume/#trades stocks on the day.
