Gil,

I couldn't agree more with what AugustWest just said. That sums up the whole situation. Whats better than feedback from customers directly to the investor? Especially when the company itself has been unable to alleviate the technology problems thus far. Despite my repeated calls and emails and calls and emails and request to talk with a manager and more calls and more emails and more requests to talk to a manager.

I have no problem with my fellow traders stating the problems
they are having but I believe the Rhetoric gets a little out of
line and as I said if you want to cuss someone out do it on the
phone directly or email them direct. We should not use this as
a place to vent our emotions, but to trade information on a
factual basis.
I believe after reading the posts that the problem might be if you
are using Ameritrade for daytrading for a half or threequarters
of a point you might look to someone like grotrade.com instead.
They cater to daytraders with direct orders to the market makers
but they charge a mo. fee and 19.95 per trade.
I find that Ameritrade fits my style, which is to take a position
for several weeks or months. Examples of recent trades are
a position in OWN bought at the selloff for 4.125 and now 12.5
or CY at 7 and now 11+. I use www.wallstreetcity.com" to monitor
my positions as they have the best real time charts and quotes
and can be updated every 6 seconds. From there I go to AMTD
for the low rates. I have problems only on days like Oct presented
using this more relaxed approach...Ameritrade is fully aware that
they must have the best system possible to keep their clientele.
They also know that they only have about 18 months to grab online
market share. It is the same strategy that paid off so well for
AOL a couple of years ago and it worked for them. I dont think
we can argue with success, but do what you have to do but realize
they have grown from 97000 to 306000 in just over a year.
.good luck gil

"And I respectfully disagree with your statement that this is the wrong place for the discussion. This is a thread to discuss the stock performance of AMTD. If customer service sucks, and their system isn't capeable to support the action they are trying to do, then the investing public has the right to know about it."

August,

Exactly right you are. Discussion here should be for anything related to Ameritrade.
