Michelle, you are missing the point here about Newt. I'm saying that he has been so successfully demonized by the dems that he's become a liability in the general elections. I can tell you for sure that every single dem challenger in my state (whose political ads I heard) would try to point the rep incumbent as aligned with "Newt Gingrich, and his extreme views". Now the truth is his views are extreme, but he's been so successfully demagogued that his name provokes a knee-jerk reaction because most people don't dig beneath the sound bites. So his policy views may not be the problem, but his personna has now become a drag on the party. He's been a target of the dems since the Rostenkowski and Jim Wright days and now they have him where they want him. I hope he sees that and goes on up on them and steps aside....for the good of his party. bp
