From what I can see they do warn in the first week or so of the report month. I'm not too sure about positive surprise announcements. I don't ever remember seeing any from the company. 3Com Warns About Quarterly Earnings 12/03/97

Barkat, These are COMS 101 questions. They report earnings in third week of Dec. Their fiscal quarters are offset one month earlier than the usual companies. Therefore, there preannouncement month is the month before the month they post earnings. >>long wait<< one month like any other company. And just like any other company, they can say what they want when they want, but usually start loosing credibility when doing so. Many times, it's a sign that companys are starting to run into problems. Analysts like predictability.
