Since alot of times revenues are booked in the last few weeks of the quarter I don't think 3Com can give an accurate prediction to analyst before that, unless it is very obvious and very large variance.

Don't have time to give you the run down on each quarter

>>3Com Warns About Quarterly Earnings 12/03/97<<

This was an exception. It was the start of COMS "black
days
". Just as a starter explanation, COMS did not have a clue
what was in their inventory. Only thing they knew was that
it was more out of their control then they ever imagined.
The inventory was stuffed to the gills, and they couldn't
move much in it. They finally broke down, and spilled the beans
to the public about the screw up, and how the merger
was a nightmare. Subsequently, the next two quarters
were about 2 cents earnings each.

You starting to get the picture?
