Steve the reason why no one is responding to your questions is because we all have the same questions/thoughts of which we canNOT get answers to. Call MZ 630-375-4125(actually Muedts #, but ask for MZ) and ask him. I did, and got long hopeful wishfull thinking type answers.

As bleak as it looks for WSTL, the board meeting was on Tuesday and since then the stock has been acting pretty well. Maybe something positive transpired??? MAybe they figured out what to do for $$$??? Looking for Dr. Tech to share the Wonderful news????

I'll add one more concern...How is WSTL/Fujitsu gong to compete against LU/ORCTF for BT. LU stuck it to WSTL by signing Europe marketing agreement with ORCTF. I know LU needed europian exposure which WSTL doesn't offer, but it goes on to prove that WSTL/LU relationship can and eventually will become LU and WSTL WHO.

I am looking to sell on these peeks...I have basically given up after 1 1/2 yrs with the last 1yr being worse than chineese torture...

Good Luck...WE NEED IT!

>> I just don't see a bright future for this company <<

Steve,

Yours are legitimate concerns regarding heavy competition,
and they are for me as well. However, let me point out what I
believe are some positives for this company:

1. Westell has been selling local loop(last mile) equipment
to all the bell companies for a number of years.
2. Westell has been working with Lucent to incorporate their
ADSL technology with Lucent's state-of-the-art digital switch
(the other end of the loop).
3. Westell has been working with DSC to integrate ADSL with DSC's
very popular Litespan 2000 digital loop carrier system.
- DSC is now owned by Alcatel-
4. BA,BT ADSL rollout (though small in the beginning) and
many current trials.

WESTELL has been in this game a lot longer than any of
the competitors and that should account for something.
I believe when wall street gets over the cable modem hype
(although I realize at this point they are ahead of ADSL
in terms of units deployed) and some orders are realized
this stock will move.
Well that's my two cents worth.

Good luck to all.

How can WSTL compete and/or how can they be profitabe? First it is very important for one to admit how complex ADSL tech and its' intergration into a network can be......TXN did not spend 350mill on AMTX because ADSL tech is easy, but to speed their R&D on the C6...MOT has spend 100mill on R&D for the coppergold....These companies both worked with WSTL and will continue to work together to foster glitchless deployment of ADSL..Westell can become profitable with current contracts by getting a longer term commitments from their customers so that volume manf can be done....Or WSTL can become profitable when volume orders arrive...Or WSTL can dump R&D for DMT products and they would be profitable ...I am assuming that ADSL is why one would invest in WSTL so R&D will stay...How can WSTL compete??? Lets look at the competition...ALA the company that everyone should thank for your losses in WSTL because they BS'ed telcos on price and product and basically created forward pricing for products that suck...Ortcf again BS'ed GTE on their DMT code and is still in ADSL PR hype stage and is playing rent a intergrator because that LU announcement is older than GARY S's 3 contacts....AWRE has basically no products and Jim Bendover gave away DMT lic. for $40,000 a pop and AWRE will probably be sued by TXN when they receive any lic revenue.....CSCO has made two bozo ADSL purchases and needs another to really get in the game, ADSL is to techy to market without the goods....NT is too busy jamming Megamodems down their canadian SUBs throats to worry about ADSL just ask BEL canada(sorry ALA)...ERicy,fujitsu,siemons,NEC are just data contract guarentors for ADSL vendors end customers....Pair has the best tech no one wants, you figure it out....How can WSTL compete? I ask how the others can compete in a very complex tech(ADSL) without companies like WSTL to hold their customers hand....If you really want to blame somebody for WSTL stock price it is the telcos BEL,GTE and others who need to establish commitment to vendors or pay up for working deliverable product that gives them a customer now..ADSL R&D should not be on sale...Finally JOEL A from pref-cap knows ADSL and his comment about a $8 dollar target was raising targets on a ongoing basis is an analyst's job......
