Jeff, Valueman,

MCI/Worldcom?
BT?

Or how about a media company like Time Warner?

They certainly would have a strong interest in selected assets.

WORLDCOM is another possibility. If a company were to acquire Loral, (an independent Loral is my first choice) I prefer WCOM because: 1. When I call the CEO for our weekly chat, I could still say, "Hi, Bernie, how's everything?" 2. It will be easier to track my portfolio. WCOM has already taken over half of my companies, why not all of them? 3. WORLDcom...GLOBALstar--it's a natural! 4. Michael Jordan would be the company spokesman

Hi Valueman:

Playing the merger guessing game, I think that
a takeover of LOR by ALA is by far the most
likely possibility, given their existing multiple
partnerships (Skybridge/Cyberstar, Globalstar ...)
AT&T is only mentioned because of the previous
job experience of Michael Armstrong. However
AT&T has way too much on its plate to be able to
make this kind of acquisition work.

From a LOR shareholder point of view, ALA might
be more prone to overpay than would T, and I
suspect that looking forward, ALA's stock is
more undervalued than T's, so that in a stock deal,
holding ALA would be a reasonably attractive option.

Best regards,

Bernard Levy
