Mile,

Clearly INTC is raising the stakes with regard to RDRAM manufacturing. By investing in MU they are attempting to assure themselves a steady supply at a REASONABLE price. They obviously want to use RDRAM but they don't want to be at the mercy of Samsung. However, if MU continues to drag their feet, fu&% 'em, it will be their ultimate loss. I don't think they will, because INTC right now is probably beating them over the head to get with it. MU has been obsessed with costs the last few years because they are bleeding so bad, but they are potentially going to lose the war if they don't suck it up and pay the short term price to get the long term gain. I'm willing to bet with INTC and Samsung right now, but of course I'm long at 66 so I have to cling to something!

John/long and waiting to double up at 66 and no lower!

Hi Mile,

a nice article, but "what of ol' Rollocks" (an old English expression)
Of course RDRAM is more expensive than its predecessors, but it performs much better.

I have not read a single complaint about the Intel 450Meg PII being more expensive than its 400Meg predecessor or the K6. But then we don't expect to, we know that we must pay for performance, especially when there is "INTEL INSIDE" (10$ Zillion of TV advertising has taught us that...))

Have a good weekend

Alan
