Other retailers did not have as impressive reports today, which may have weighed on the sector as a whole.

The thing to remember about AMES' sales report is that the numbers included Halloween this year and excluded Halloween from last year's 3rd Q report. This put the same store sales comparison figures a bit out of whack. The sales AMES reports for November will have to compare against sales figures last year which did include the Halloween numbers. Of course our November sales report will include a few days of the Christmas shopping season, and that may ease the pressure on the comparisons. MT
