Justa, Re: Small Cap Risk- Another factor to consider: Checkout today's Wall street Journal. Good article on subject. Gives summary of a risk-adjustment study (M-suared method)of small cap funds (vs Russell 2000,etc.). List of the top 10 (risk adjusted) for 10 year period. Most have betas from 0.8 to 1.2. 1. RE: "Was it the tax man or just plain inaction or was it something else?" It was not the tax man, since the fund is in an IRA at Schwab. It was partially inaction, since I have been very busy with business-related issues. It was also partially a feeling of disgust that the original recommendation did not work out better.
