Tenchusatsu, wonderful points. I take it your position is that even if AMD pulls through in time and on spec that INTC can weather the storm until Willamette saves the day. Isn't there still the problem of the average desktop not needing Willamette's level of power? (Of course there will always be power users, but I'm talking about the average business app.)

I agreed with all your points but one:

AMD doesn't plan to go it alone in this area. They are making specific strategic alliances with Ali, 3dfx, Compaq and others so it's more of a collaborative effort. I think the folks at AMD know there is no way to challenge Intel on a head-to-head basis.

Your insightful response, especially about production capacity, has me taking a second look at my options here. Thanks again.
