Hi Mohan,

Thanks for the great article. Also in this week's Barron's, there is an interview with 3 tech fund managers....McNamee, Paul Wicke, and some guy called Landis. McNamee says about DELL,

"DELL remains an extraordinary business, and one of the really exciting things going on in the economy right now."

Yes, and this in Barrons!!! It's a wonder they let that go to press!

Mohan: Thanks for the update from InternetWeek. I am always interested in hearing from Michael Dell (in person or on the internet <ggg>). I really liked these comments that Michael made...

"...The ultimate test of value-add is whether you are able to earn a return on your
efforts, and I dare say that no company has been able to achieve a return on its
R&D expenditure equal to Dell."

Have a great weekend.

Hi Mohan-san: aaah, the beauty of competition is keeping us alert. Look who is breathing behind our neck. I am sure Dell is aware of it. This small article is from San Diego Union, Nov. 4, 98 page C-2:

Gateway reports on Web site sales

Gateway, the computer maker with executive offices in San Diego, generated
more than $6 million sales per day at its Web site in August. In an effort
to promote even more Web sales, the company added a feature to its Internet
site intended to help online PC buyers use the company's lease and finance
programs. The company also referred consumers to a new Internet address:
www.yourware.com

In the home market, Gateway starts including Voodoo:

Gateway is now including the Voodoo Banshee in select Gateway G- and GP-Series desktop computers.

next-generation.com

Do you know if Dell will be doing the same thing, especially in penetrating the consumer market?

Regards
