You've nailed the recipe! And thousands of Americans are probably reading your post and scribbling it down at this moment to add it to their Thanksgiving feast.

Oh Mrs. Cleaver, would you please pass me some more of your delicious "salad"?

Hole mole,

El Poblano es el mejor..... pero ese perteneze a la comida Mexicana, de manera que no cuenta. <g>

what gran intolerance from one colonial to another...

Not so, dear colonial mate, I am merely pointing the clear facts....

just follow that wine to the good food on Shattuck Avenue's gourmet ghetto and other such spots, stay away from canned mushroom soup!

Agreed, however the cooks were never at risk from my flames, as I am certain there are many, many, American cooks, that would leave the best French gourmet aficionado in the dust....

As for canned food... never touch it, may be in a jar, particularly if it is caviar, or other delicacies, such as Anguilas (baby ones), a la Asturiana, (with Olive Oil).... lightly warmed, sour dough bread (or equivalent), washed down with a glass (or several), of Jeréz Fino, like Tío Pepe.

.....It is the "American food" (whatever)... that I question.

orange gelatin, baby marshallows, old coconut, canned sliced apricots and crushed pineapple, embellished with a dollop of 'mayo...' or a splash of cool whip... a few almonds

Is that the Alpo recepy for dessert ?..... or a deserted attempt to "embellish" plain Jell-O.... "Mayo" ? YUK !!.... the use of such "embelishment" should be outlawed, under hazardous/toxic waste material, no less....

I personally have never made this stuff so if anyone wants to fine tune this recipe, go for it!

Aha! the old trick of "I have never made this stuff" .... and this time you got the name right... "STUFF" Yes, I like that description better, as opposed to "food".

Now, on the other hand..... Your suggestion of almonds is indeed an excellent one, however the real embelishment to aLmonds, is a glass of good vintage Port.

So long you keep suggesting items like the last one, then I may be persuaded.... to change my opinion... a rare event, given my stubborn nature.

mata moriscos....remembering the '5 o'clock flan' at Sanborne's

(Not to mention POTATO CHIPS !!! YUK)
