Hi Chuck,

Even if we hit 9300 this upturn, I wish you continue investing using your own research thru SI. Although there are many Funds that perform well (Fidelity Select Electronics that specializes in SEMIs and SEMI-Equips gained more than 100% at one certain time in 1994), I believe that you can do better than their Fund Managers...

Good Luck!...

Chuck-- A good mathematician friend of mine was on the American Mathematical Ass'n's investment committee. They studied where to get the best return for their money. Their conclusion is now widely known; an index fund did better than 80% of mutual funds. What hope is there for us amateurs!

When I asked him about the predictive value of funds that traditionally outperform the index's, his answer was that randomly, some funds had to have the best five-yr. (etc.) record, but that it had no predictive value.

Meanwhile, I do it for the entertainment, but the major money is in an index fund.

Also, look carefully at custodial fees. As my CREF index fund pointed out, .25% difference in custodial fees can add up to $1,000 per month at retirement, depending on how long the fund is maintained. Check the math, but compound interest is astounding with enough years.

good investing-- fred
