I agree with every jot and tittle of this post. I reject the two dominant parties for precisely the same reasons expressed here. They both perpetuate the problem of big intrusive government.

If only Libertarianism could deal with the moral issues that matter to me in such a way that does not force me to compromise my moral principle, then I'd be a Libertarian. I am willing not to ban abortion, but then the government should by no means pay for or support it. If someone wants an abortion and cannot afford it, Mama Guv'ment should simply say "I only deal with roads, defense and the like, see your minister or doctor or something". If people in our society want to accept homosexuality, then fine, but the government should allow me freedom to reject it.

You may find this surprising sir. But very many fundamentalist Christians support the Libertarian view, and they are not interested in forcing their views on anyone. They merely think, things being what they are, that they have no choice but to influence the current system toward their values, lest they be destroyed. They see our society, our government, as a threat to their way of life. So they push the society toward decency, this, to protect themselves.

Personally, I'd like virtually no government, merely enough to facilitate basic infrastructural needs. I would trade with the atheist as well as theists of all stripes, this, in complete harmony, respecting everyone's right to pursue productivity and happiness, even should they find it in homosexuality. In such a world, I would be free not to support the homosexual, or have anything to do with him. I would also be free to support him, or trade with him. In essence, I would be free to accept or reject MONEY based upon my own principles.

In such a world, I would increase my current productivity by a factor of a thousand. Were our current stOOpid and Draconian government with its two (indeed one) silly political parties simply to leave me alone, I alone would create tens of thousands, hundreds of thousands more jobs in the process of increasing my own productivity.
