Antoine, thanks for a thoughtful post. You said >Thin film heads to MR to GMR is happening awfully quickly. I think some drive makers have been dragging their feet, trying to retain TFI heads longer than necessary - probably for cost reasons. IBM shipped the first drive with MR heads in 1991 - a century ago in tech time. Gottfried
