Don't disagree that AVID has broader market than TV, but TV is what is sucking the life out of it. That's why AVID and TEK are announcing a merger. They plan to spin off the TV side into a third company that is 50-50 owned. AVID also wants to get its hands firmly around TEK's server based systems (Profile) and eliminate one of the last two newsroom computer system competitors (NewStar).
AVID gets plenty of business from film and other non-broadcast outlets worldwide, but there are some other great boxes out there now (Sony doesn't count.. I mentioned Sony because of the battle over technology.. MPeg vs JPeg).

I have a friend who works for TEK. It is truly in trouble. Needs AVID more than AVID needs it.

Anyway, I bought AVID and TEK because I like the partnership they've already established.. and think the merger will only strengthen both companies. I just worry that the 4Q numbers won't be the record setting numbers everyone's predicting.
