Let's say the internet can grow to 50million US households. Lets pretend that all of them use eBay for 10 auctions a year. Multiply that by $3 per auction (assuming the average auction is about $100 times a charge of 2.5%). This would amount to 1.5 billion. Then add 15% for international sales and the new total would be 1.7 billion.
Unless they add an escrow service or other services, their revenues can never top roughly 1.7 billion, not 10 billion as you say.
