Off-topic: SilkRoad StuffThere's no point in attempting to criticize what you don't understand. I wasn't criticizing SilkRoad's alleged technology, but the hype coming from the company and you, on the Ciena thread. You can start reading my comments on the Silk Road thread. You are looking for authority to "ok" something. You trust some mathematicians and scientists but not others. Whom should I trust? A founder of a start-up company, not yet public, with no SEC reporting requirements, who has a huge financial interest in bringing his company public and selling stock?Your selection criteria depends upon who tells you is a worthy scientist. Are you an independent mathematician or scientist? Dr. Ahhaha doesn't ring any bells. Apart from your anonymity, I also don't know if you are independent, as it's possible that you have a financial interest in SilkRoad. So you're dependent upon another less knowledgeable individual. In most cases this chain of command ends with the latrine orderly of the NYSE. I think the idea is that people hope to find someone who is more knowledgeable, and benefit from his or her wisdom. However, I have seen (non-anonymous) posters, with impeccable credentials, who have led others astray into stocks that almost instantly went bankrupt. Thus, I think it is best if people don't rely too much on others, but try to stick to stocks that they can grasp themselves. If you don't learn all about how science and society work, you're helplessly dependent upon the bathroom walls. Science is such a broad field that it's impossible to learn every aspect of it. That's why I think it's best if investors stick to industries that they know. As far as how society works, I've unfortunately learned too much about it already: all about greed, deception, and betrayal, things which I wish didn't exist -- but I'm sure that's off-topic. * * * And now, does anyone wish to discuss Ciena?
