Linux is a more realistic competitor, but you missed my point.

The door is wide open right now for someone to come in and design an OS with true QOS. Its not BeOS, Linux, unix, Windows, or anyone else. When that happens, its going to change the way computers make use of processors for PCs' (Maybe I should patent this idea).

The way that fundamental jump in functionality is structured will determine the next dominant client-end hw and sw vendors for the next decade. It might be MSFT/INTC again, but maybe not.

I know some reps from Be were at MSFT last spring pitching MSFT on the idea of writing Office for Be.
