GM, Eugene, Brian, whoever is interested.

This is not the INTC thread but since we are on the subject....

Why would it be incredible that INTC preannounces now? They are probably receiving orders from all the boxmakers anticipating a fantastic Christmas. Since they have cut down and we know no boxmakers are carrying much inventory anymore these days, why wouldn't they be doing better than the estimates which had been knocked way down earlier. After all, weren't they on allocation for months? For those of you who actually follows Intel and the boxmakers, any of you remember the inventory glut that killed CPQ, HWP etc last spring? How strong the PC market will be this Christmas remains to be seen. I don't think it will take much to change the purchase decision of a top of the line $3000 PC to a IBM under $600 to "may be I will stick with my old P133 which seems to be working fine".

The best part about the stock market is choice. Each of us can decide for ourselves what is best. Unless you are the type that lacks confidence and requires affirmations from others, my decision should have no bearing on anyone else's.

All I can say is I have not seen for quite some time the herd stampeding in the same direction as strong as now. Wherever the herd is heading, I like to stay clear.
