my basis for this pick is: market image and and it's the only damned internet company who has any profit. the company now has a life all of its own. It requires little intervention by the company itself, 'xept the billing part. It also doesn't need to keep any inventory nor does it need to deliver any goods. They epitomize the perfect middleman. Their reputation is top-notched and the feedback that some of the subscribers of EBAY has gotten is irreplaceable. Sure they can go to another auction place to advertise but many of these people already has a 1000+ positive rating. To achieve that same rating elsewhere now means you have to start all over again. There probably are some people out there who uses EBAY as as their primary source of income. EBAY's audience also represents for years what supermall/supermarket/fleamarket centers could only dream of achieving. The internet is the only place where u can consolidate such a market. It's a place where u can sell off your old junk to make room for new junk and the cycle just goes on and on. Everyone knows who they are now, and if there are any people left who don't, they will eventually. By that time, the person who now has a rating of 1000 will be riding on a rating of, well... u can take a guess. Tell me, if this isn't a good formula for a long-running profitable company. Now, just imagine if they start allowing advertisers in? They can integrate a portal company perhaps? The opportunities are still there left untapped. If u already haven't noticed, even SOES bandits and individual investors can only buy/sell 200 shares at a time in EBAY. Can u imagine the buying and selling pressure it would require to move this stock the way it has in the past few dayz?! Wouldn't be surprised if most of the buyers were EBAY subscribers themselves.... I only thought this thing would probably go to ~$80-$90, perhaps even $100, but this has exceeded all my expectations and especially in such a short time. I only wished this movement came near the end of December rather than sooner. Good luck to all, and great job, Forest.
