Hi MH,
I listened to the recent I2 conference call and the CEO made a couple of provocative comments about moving into ERP's space. Obviously, Dell has done wonderfully w/o ERP and I suspect that a number of companies could do the same.

I read the recent Barron's articles which punched I2 up this week on the I2 thread. I think they mention this as a substitute for ERP. Also, the company that I2 is partnering with Industri - Maticmatica (IMIC) apparently has products that allow the SCM system to do a lot of what ERP does.

Because SCM solves important business operations optimization questions, which ERP doesn't, I think it could happen.

Regards
David

Michelle, You wrote

"My take is SCM will definitely hit ERP in the new emerging internet businesses, which are primarily distribution and logistics companies anyway."

In my opinion SCM makes the most sense, when You already have ERP up and running. Do You agree? So I think both can thrive together. As we had many companies erp'd so far, I believe SCM is the a place to come.

I own PSFT, IWTO and SEBL, sold SAP.
