IBM is certainly a good example of providing shareholder value -
IBM buys back tons of shares, has a ton of debt on the books but gets a higher earnings/share and the market loves it.
EDS buys back only enough for stock purchase plan, builds up cash, reduces debt, and the market loves IBM better.
Internet stocks make no money, buy back no shares, dilute stock with excessive stock options and the market loves them.
Is EDS just stupid with respect to playing to the market or are they responsible managers of the stockholders assets?
I really want responsible managers and I want increased stockholder value. But, I can't bring myself around to saying the EDS should change their business practices and become just a bunch of Elmer Gantry's fleecing the stupid sheep.
