"Is it possible that in the past Wegener has purposely not been courting the larger orders because they didn't think they could handle that level of business due to their weak liquidity position?"

Lets not forget that what got them in trouble in the first place was over estimating demand and increasing the inventory levels in anticapation of getting those large orders. When all those orders did not materialize they were stuck with a boatload of inventory and all the expense that goes along with it.

Yea, right! The rationalizing goes on.....

I can hear the conversation now...

Smith: "Well Guys, looks like we've won that big $20 million order
at ABC for their new digital infrastructure. I can't wait to spend
that commission money on a new BMW."

Placek: "No kidding, we won a big order? I didn't know we were bidding
on one"

Woodbury: "Geez Bob, we really blew it last time we had that big order
with your golfing parter. Remember, you had the guys build three times
as much inventory as needed."

Placek: "How was I supposed to know other guys had cheaper, better
equipment than us? I need to get some guys from CBS and NBC on my
golf league to sell that old inventory to"

Woodbury: "Besides Bob, if we take on a big order, that means a bunch
more work for us, and I wanted to take a month off next year"

Placek: "Your right Troy. Besides, with all of the engineering and
software people who have left the company, we don't have anyone to
handle the extra work anyway".

Smith: "Huh?, you guys told me I was joining a cutting edge company"

Placek: "Listen Keith, all this new business you are getting us is
really crinkling my shorts. You better better stop rocking the boat, buster"
"And tell ABC, we don't want the order"

Smith (thinks himself): .... Time to polish up the resume.....
