I'm sure that Tom siebel will willingly hitch his rising star to a boat anchor.

PSFT buy Siebel? 100 to one odds it doesn't happen.

1) psft to merge with jdec
Won't happen in a million years. Makes no sense from PSFT perspective since they would gain nothing from JDEC.

2) psft to merge with EDS
Would only happen if EDS launched a hostile takeover. Again PSFT gains nothing from this. They already have a healthy, growing, successful service capability.

3) psft to acquire both Siebel and manu
Siebel acquisition makes sense if the price is right, but don't hold your breath. MANU is a non-starter since PSFT already has an SCM component with Red Pepper.

These rumors are ridiculous. Why would any PSFT "senior executive" talk about corporate strategy to anyone in the press "under condition of anonymity"? Sounds to me like the author has read one too many Tom Clancy novels.

Tom

PeopleSoft and Seibel?

What I have heard from people on the inside of both
companies is that the culture gulf between the
two is too wide.
