Avtel halted after stock soars WASHINGTON, Nov 12 (Reuters) - Nasdaq said it halted trading in Avtel Communications Inc. at 1740 EST (2240 GMT), seeking additional information from the company after its stock price soared $28.75 to close at $31 on Thursday . he sharp rise in the price of the stock was propelled by the introduction of the company's new high-speed Internet modem, which the company claims is 50 times faster than conventional modems. The stock exchange said trading will remain halted until Avtel Communications has fully satisfied Nasdaq's request for additional information.
