Hey Gary, I'm back to reitterate the points I began on July 31st. Corporate slowdown, increased compeition, margins eroding: I'm reading the tape on CSCO and it doesn't look good. Profits are gonna be a'taken.

You are correct that LU is wayyy ahead of NT - considering that it still hass not been formally announced by the two players. Will have to disagree with you on Cisco being the first. They are working on a DS (MSFT AD) where the owner will not have anything ready until mid to late 1999! Even if Cisco develops and has ready-for-market a non-NT implementation of AD, bets are very high that MSFT will not allow Cisco to release it! Think how much egg would be on MSFT's face if the "cart came before the horse". Secondly, and this is a very big point, lets say that Cisco successfully develops and actually puts to market an AD release on Solaris. Exactly who will plan on using it? Customers are not going to purchase an entire AD Directory Service solution and direction just so that they can manage Cisco switches and technology. They might as well buy any other management software. You are not understanding the concept of who currently owns the market. NDS is widely deployed and being expanded NOW. Customers have large and well established NDS trees NOW. Exactly which A.D. directories will Cisco deploy into? While Cisco is working to building an AD DS marketshare (for MSFT) its competitors will be simply selling into existing mature NDS custromer environments. Toy
