Tip, The quarter was a great one as reported. However, they did not make the whisper number of 30 cents. And we all know that the numbers are tarted up by options and buyback scams and leveraged by taking down debt and not paying a dividend.

Dell doesn't have any choice but to attack the enterprise area. Their ASP is the only thing that keeps their silly direct model afloat, and they can't compete on the low end. I think they are going to have a tough go in Enterprise computing soon. They lowered prices dramatically after the close of the quarter in that area because Compaq and IBM are getting tough. Also, they may be being misled by the story that Mary told about everyone replacing their legacy hardware before Y2K. Ain't gonna happen, at least not in big enough size to make that area easy pickings.

Dell makes a great box. They are tough competitors. But I can see the end of the easy money in sight.

BTW, Mikey will be on CNBS tomorrow to tout the stock enough to make his own sales at the end of the year. <G>

Now, for anyone. How can chip prices be going up for the chip cos. but going down for Dell? Are they on different metaphysical planes? <G>
