There was also a post on the Yahoo thread that this rumor had been laying around for a while.

Any time you have a company whose breakup value is greater than the price of the stock - and whose cash on hand is roughly half of its asset value -----> I think you have a takeover target.

As to who? Well, I dunno and have no way of knowing. I think it would be either

1. A competitor who wants to strengthen presence in the market niche or (If you can't beat them, buy them)
2. A company whose existing products and/or services might be strengthened (synergy. 1+1=3)

That said, I don't know how INTC might benefit from an acquisition. On the other hand, might not LSI or Motorola or TI or......? All things considered, I don't care who it might be. But it's a factor, isn't it?
