What they say, due to contracts, and what they do, based on what works, are often 2 different things. I spent 3 years at GE. SQL is indeed used there, but it is not loved. Whenever possible, Oracle (or Sybase) is used.

Interesting that you sight GE Capital's use of SQL*Server Michael.

Having spent a significant amount of time in that organization and knowing the 'technologists' that are making those decisions, here is my appraisal of them. Essentially 'lost in the wilderness'...
