I don't have to worry about taxes, (401), so I think I will sell this morning. I am going to clean out my Cisco position also. This will leave me in AOL only, and about 75% Cash. I figure: A: the market is getting silly, ie: the Earthweb IPO,Ebay, etc, B: strong possibility of the Fed leaving the interest rate where it is next week, which could cause a 10% slide, and C: Time of year, Tax selling etc. When I balance the above 3 points against any potential upside. It looks like a good time to be out, and wait for a buying opportunity. Can I outguess the Market? Hell, I don't know, but I am going to try!

P.S. BTW, on a percentage basis, if DELL were to sell off in the next couple of weeks like it did after Q1 whisper # miss, it would go to roughly 57+, then rebound and make a new high within 6 weeks.

Obviously if interest rates are cut Tues this will happen more quickly and, as I said, the stock has not trajectoried like it did in Jan-May (so I think it will not fall 20% like it did after that earnings report). The more I think about this the more I believe that it will stay above 60, and rebound rather quickly as new players get in... JMHO GR

Lets all face facts...

we are scrambling to find reasons for this stock to advance from $65 after hrs. I hope it runs up but dont expect that. Next Friday is options expiration .MM's want stock below $70 and $75 and dammit they will get their wish. The way the MM's managed this stock was awesome thing to watch. Hate 'em, but admire how well they operate.

I guess one must take a contrarian view.

Granola,
Check my post #78555, Neil Mintz, Nov 12 1998 10:19AM .
I do not normally short a stock. In Dell's case it was too far ahead of itself. I see the stock retreating into the low 50's. There are new "darlings" on the street to go after. I am bullish on CPQ and COMS. Their stock values are low compared to their growth prospects. Good Investing. Neil
p.S. I will cover my position before low 50's
