I explained clearly enough.

If someone else bid $500 a full day before you, it would not show as a $500 bid until a $500 bid was necessary to win. Literally a dozen people could have made a $500 bid BEFORE you had, but you would have no way of knowing that, because maximum bids are secret.

I do understand that this can be misleading.

On the other hand it is a real service to bidders, who can decide what the most they are willing to pay for an item is, make that bid, know that they may get it for less, and know that they will not pay more.
At the same time they need not be present because "Bid Maker" is acting as their agent.
