More on the buyback...

Finally took the plunge and paid my subscription. Firstly, thanks to all posters on the Creaf thread, for the valuable info over the months.

There has certainly been a lot of speculation about exactly when the buyback will occur. We all assumed that when the bill was passed and signed then it would immediately come into effect. Unfortunately the statement below, from the Singapore Business Times Online, implies that we have still longer to wait.

These provisions are contained in new sections to the Companies Act -- sections 76B to 76G -- on share buyback and which were passed in Parliament on Oct 12. President Ong Teng Cheong gave his assent to the legislation on Nov 9 and it will come into effect at a date to be decided by the finance minister.

Full story at business-times.asia1.com.sg. I guess it is time to stop slating the prez and start cussing the Finance Minister.

I am long Creaf, in for the long term, but afraid my November 15 calls are looking a bit suspect now. Why is it that I think the legislation will come into effect the day after expiration?

Give us something at COMDEX on Tuesday, Sim!
