That was a very thorough summary of the show. Thanks.

Re: Roth vs. Conventional IRA

I selected a conventional, tax-deferred IRA rather than a Roth IRA. My decision was partially based on the fact that my contribution was into a GNMA fund, which is now yielding about 6 to 6.5%.

Best wishes,

I2

Lars: Great summary. One point of clarification. I don't think ROTH Ira's have any mandatory distributions beginning at age 70 1/2. Why you can keep your money there growing tax free until you meet your maker if that is your wish.

I have seen the AMAT projection by Lehman and can confirm that the caller's cycle peak quote is close to the mark if not on the mark. Pie in the sky estimate IMO.

Lars,

Great summary for those of us who got taken out half way through the show b/c of football.

BB also said that the Tuesday rate decrease was 50/50. We'll see.

Also, regarding my decision to convert to Roth.
1) My IRA is small and all I own in it is a depressed semi equip, which I expect to triple in 2 years.

2)If I pay taxes on the price now which is very low, I will not have to pay on all the gains over the next few years. My rationale is focused on my age, 36 and the opportunity to lock in lower taxes on an acct that I expect to appreciated significantly.

3) I have thought about unconverting to a traditional IRA again, but this is the last year I think I will qualify income-wise.

Comments please. Does this sound good?

Rgds, D

The Amat Report At Lehman

He talks about AMAT and claims the report says AMAT will earn $7.70 at the peak of the cycle. Bob responded that those eps figures are hard to believe. Has anyone on the board seen this report

Yo Lars - Is that another Hail-Bob Comet in the skies? Or is it just the Leonid meteor shower?

Thanks for the Saturday-summary. A couple of tidbits that I heard:

In answer to a caller, he said he was neutral on oil drilling stocks and negative on domestic and international oils.

Bob repeated his usual comments on penny stocks - he would avoid them like the plague!

In discussing Dell, he said his only quarrel with it was its high valuation. If they can grow PC market share from 9% to 20%, as Michael Dell hopes to do over 5 years, the stock price would then (of course) have great potential.

P.S.- For those in the NYC area, WABC-770 AM had all 3 hours of Bob's show on Saturday! (but only the first 2 on Sunday).
