I will take a look at his work. Sounds interesting. It also sounds way "blue sky" and perhaps hard to realize in a hardware implementation.

A message based system would allow for on the fly switching to its destination. This would relieve the point to point connection constraint. However, on the fly nodal address decoding of the address in the message could cause timing problems associated with the implementation.

The air force/ navy uses a message based system in their avionics systems. The implementation of these system is always constrained to the realties of the environment in which they must operate.
