Excerpt from the EE Times article noting FC vs. SCSI developments:

"In part, the push to beef up Fibre Channel performance is being driven by advances in parallel SCSI, which is expected to adopt the Ultra3 SCSI specification that increases the SCSI transfer rate to 160 Mbytes/s. Adaptec will unveil an adapter chip and board at Comdex, providing the link needed for Ultra3 SCSI disk drives.

"Fibre Channel is a clear winner when long distance or large numbers of drives are involved, and it is also more suitable for storage-area networks and clustering environments. However, work in SCSI is continuing because many systems don't need those benefits, so the backward compatibility with existing cabling and software is a compelling reason not to switch to a serial interface."

Similar article in EE Times, noting competition between Fibre Channel and SCSI.

I don't get EE Times and our library doesn't carry it. What were the comparisons? Favorable for SCSI? Please exerpt the gist of the article if you have time. Thanks.
