The patent laws in Japan apparently are different from the USA. My
comments were in reference to the US patent laws. Sorry.

As a result of the Japanese patent given to ECD for NiMH technology, the royalties owed for production by Battery companies in Japan to ECD now extends back to 1992 . The life of the Japanese, ECD patent, begins in 1992. This includes all NiMH batteries manufactured in Japan even from non- Japanese companies such as SAFT.
Unfortunately ECD gave an exemption to a certain Matsuchita NiMH battery technology and it is exempt from royalties and causing ECD a good many problems.
