I think I gave the wrong impression here, so let me clarify. Sex is not the only expression of love, I was just reponding to your post re; flowers and sex.

Love should be so much more, and expressed in many different ways. Just being near your partner, when you feel she needs you near. Going for a walk when you feel she needs space. Knowing that person so intimately you don't have to ask...you just do. And knowing that that person cares so deeply for you she will do everything she can to be loyal to you, and be on your team, caring about what matters to you and helping further your causes. And vice versa.

But you are right, men are conditioned to give flowers, and conditioned to give gifts, and women in turn are conditioned to receiving these things. And the meaning of these tokens, however noble it began, has been diluted.

But if you are in love with someone, and that person feels the same way, then sex should be the most intimate and awe inspiring thing that could be between these two people, because it makes them one physically, where they were already one spiritually.

Read Plato's Symposium, specifically Arisptophanes description of love
