Actually, I'm concerned that the much anticipated rate cut has already been priced in, and now it can only be bad news. Just like a huge Iraqi conflict was priced into this sector, and now out. If the cut is not larger than expected, I imagine the market will correct for a while. And with the economic news being better than expected, there is some risk of the Fed leaving rates where they are. I've dumped some of my Europe fund in anticipation of a correction.

In the mean time, I love the way my shorts are looking. I've promised myself to be true to my system, but it sure is tempting to take some profits here.

Slider...those aren't footsteps...thats the phone ringing...
Something about margin calls...

I'll wait until something "positive" actually takes place...
Like crude moving up...
Like the Japanese...actually using the money...
Like dayrates actually increasing...
Like major oils...increasing their budgets...
Like rig utilization going up...
Like sector companies hiring...instead of layoffs..

When the fundamentals for the sector improve...that's the time to buy...not when it just "looks" like it might...maybe...if...

Just my thoughts

This sector is a joke, stay clear. I am about to call it quits.

Slider: The oil service stocks held up extremely well today as crude plunged to $12.80. The reaction to news could hardly be better. We may slip a little lower, but this looks like a great buying opportunity. Pile in shorts and make the next rally even more explosive.

There has to be consolidation and the Big Boys with all the cash will force the little caps to capitulate. The fewer drillers, the more probability of increased day rates. Its only a matter of economics. It will be an 12-18 month wait on this sector and many opportunities to get in cheap without commiting dead money to the oils.
